Storefront of Paula Deen's Family Kitchen during the day
February 26, 2014

There’s about to be a bit more southern cooking in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Celebrity chef Paul Deen, has announced a comeback with the opening of a new retail operation and restaurant in Pigeon Forge. Bloomberg Businessweek announced this morning that the new restaurant will be called “Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen.”

This expansion of Paula Deen Ventures is said to have been pursued by project developers to expand Deen’s loyal fanbase and to offer Pigeon Forge tourists a unique dining experience.

Paula Deen Ventures hopes to capture the spirit of Deen’s original restaurant, the Lady & Sons in Savannah, Ga. To get the up and running, the 20,000 square foot restaurant and retail operation has a projected design, construction and yearly budget of $20 million.

“Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen” is set to open late summer 2014 at the Island in Pigeon Forge, where the project will join the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, Timberwood Grill, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and a range of retail and dining businesses.

“We know that sharing Paula’s love and hospitality with her beloved fans and friends will be a great addition to our new development in Pigeon Forge,” said Darby Campbell, developer of the Island in Pigeon Forge.

We’ll be sure to keep you informed on exact opening date and more information as it is released.
