More Than 80,000 Spectators Expected at the Gatlinburg Christmas Parade

One of the most beloved holiday traditions in the Smoky Mountains is just around the corner! This December, over 80,000 spectators are expected to watch the annual Gatlinburg Christmas parade. Read on for everything you need to know about this fantastic event.

When and Where

Gatlinburg’s 39th annual Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, in downtown Gatlinburg. Everyone is welcome to come watch this spectacular parade that is about an hour long. The parade will travel along Highway 321 from Traffic Light #1A to Traffic Light #10, and there will be several parking options for those in attendance. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early and take advantage of the many area Christmas shopping and dining opportunities.There is no admission charge.

What to Expect

This popular parade will feature well over 100 entries that include more than 12 talented marching bands representing Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Alabama. Spectators can also expect to see several giant helium balloon characters, wonderfully decorated Christmas floats, and many amazing performers. Of course, Mr. and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance on a float specially decorated for such important guests!

Additionally, spectators are sure to enjoy the $1.6 million that the city has put into new lights and Christmas decorations for the holiday season. Gorgeous technicolor displays will light up the parade route every step of the way, so you can expect to see all the parade entries extremely well.
