In 1937 a band of talented crafters calling the Smoky Mountains home joined together to create The Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community. Wanting to stay as close as possible to the area where both their tools and inspiration came from, the collection of crafters settled down on what is now called The Glades, and set up shop.

Today the Gatlinburg Arts and Crafts Community is one of the largest groups of independent artists and craftsmen in America. Consisting of 120 skilled craftsmen and women, the now eight-mile loop in downtown Gatlinburg is a must see for any art lover visiting the Smokies.

Want to see first hand what these skilled Smoky Mountain crafters are capable? Visit The Glade for yourself. There is free and convenient parking, as well as a trolley dedicated to transporting visitors from shop to shop for a low one time fee. Visit the crafty community’s website for a full map of the loop here.
