The Gatlinburg Sky Lift Reopens Just in Time for Summer

Overview of downtown Gatlinburg
May 30, 2017

The summer months are quickly approaching and the Gatlinburg Sky Lift has reopened for visitors just in time for the summer season! The Gatlinburg Sky Lift opened for Memorial Day weekend and we’re expecting the ride to be better than ever!

The reconstruction of the Gatlinburg Sky Lift meant that they could make a few changes to make the ride even better! Here’s a few changes that happened:

The ride now has 92 chairs that can seat up to 3 people each. The chair lift also is a little taller than it was, so you will be about 10 feet higher in the air than you were before! Those 10 extra feet make the views even better than you can imagine!

For now, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift is a continuous ride that lasts around 18 minutes. It’s great for kids and adults, so the entire family can ride! The Sky Lift is also perfect for large groups. Since the ride is constantly moving, it’s easy to have large groups without having to worry about scheduling a date or time to visit.

The Gatlinburg Sky Lift opens at 9 a.m. daily. It’s a great place to start the day for beautiful views of the mountains and downtown Gatlinburg. The great thing about the Sky Lift is that it doesn’t close until the evening, so you can experience nighttime views of the Smokies, too! If you purchase the Unlimited tickets, you will be able to ride the Sky Lift during the day to see the clear views of the mountains, and at night to see the lights across downtown Gatlinburg.

Coming Soon: Gatlinburg Sky Deck

The Gatlinburg Sky Deck is still under construction, but it’s expected to reopen around October 2018 for the fall season. Once the Sky Deck is fully functional, riders will be able to get off the Sky Lift and explore the gift shop, take in the mountain views and even enjoy a meal at the restaurant that is expected to open!

The Gatlinburg Sky Deck is definitely one of the best parts about the Sky Lift attraction, so we’re looking forward to having that part of the ride open again soon.
