There’s so much to see and do during every season in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains that visiting just once a year isn’t enough. Many couples and families get around vacation time limitations by stealing a weekend away to come and enjoy everything the region has to offer. As you plan your getaway, take advantage of the following tips to enhance your short stay at our Smoky Mountain vacation cabins:

1. Pack Light

Since you are only going to be in the Smoky Mountain area for a day or two, don’t go overboard when it comes to packing. You can decide ahead of time exactly what you plan to do in advance, so you’ll know just what you need to bring with you. For example, if you know you’re going to be hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, then be sure to bring your good hiking boots. Some nicer outfits for a going out to eat and some comfortable clothing for attending festivals and other events should round out all of your clothing needs.

2. Choose a Cabin Near Your Planned Activities

When you’re only in town for a short time, you don’t want to waste any time getting to your planned activities. Fortunately, we have Smoky Mountain vacation cabins in a variety of different locations that will place you close to anywhere you want to be. Just let us know your plans when you make your reservations, and we’ll help you choose the perfect cabin. We have excellent cabins near Ober Gatlinburg, cabins near Dollywood, and cabins near downtown Gatlinburg, so you’ll never be far from all the action!

3. Make it a Three Day Weekend

Imagine how much more you could enjoy your Tennessee getaway by adding an extra day to your trip. This is a great time to tack on a personal day or a sick day to give yourself a three day weekend. You can do even better by adding that extra day to an existing long weekend, like Columbus Day or Labor Day.

4. Don’t Schedule Too Many Activities

Part of the fun of a Smoky Mountain getaway is the simple relaxation that you can enjoy in your cabin. Be sure not to pack your schedule so full that you don’t have time to soak in your hot tub or have a family cookout. Be sure to leave some time to breathe the clean mountain air and enjoy your time with your family or significant other.

5. Plan Carefully

While you don’t want to drive yourself into the ground with too much planning, you also don’t want to leave your schedule up to chance. Make your reservations for activities in advance well before your trip, learn dates and times of festivals and other special events, and be sure to make an appropriate list of the things that you really want to do during your visit.
