One of the most popular spots is Morton Overlook, where you can watch the sun sink behind a series of mountain ridges. The mountains create the perfect frame for this beautiful scene! To reach this stunning sunset spot, take Newfound Gap Road to Kuwohi Road, which then leads to a large parking lot. You’ll then need to hike a half-mile paved trail up to the observation tower. This path is steep but leads to breathtaking views, making it well worth the effort! From the tower, you can watch as the sun sets over the mountains, casting colorful hues across the sky.

3. Foothills Parkway

Foothills Parkway is a popular scenic drive in the Smoky Mountains that offers fantastic mountain and valley views. You’ll find a number of pull-offs and overlooks along this route, and you can catch a Smoky Mountain sunset from many of them! Park at a west-facing overlook and watch as the sun dips below the Cumberland Plateau.
