If you love the Great Smoky Mountains as much as we do, you’ll be glad to hear that Fox News recognized our national park. Here’s why:

Fox News made a list of Picturesque National Parks to Visit in the Wintertime, featuring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in their top 7.

Fox News said “the Smokies are gorgeous in the wintertime, like a scene straight from a movie.” We couldn’t agree more! When the snow falls in the Smokies, there’s nothing better! The white snow glistens across the treetops and blankets the ground. As the fog rolls through the mountains, you’ll notice the hazy white snow that covers the Smokies.

A Few Tips for Spending Time in the Smoky Mountains This Winter

You never know what the weather will be like in the Smoky Mountain area. Unpredictable snow can arrive with little notice, especially in the upper elevations of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. For this reason, there’s a few things you should go ahead and keep in mind, just in case the weather gets a little snowy while you’re here.

Pack to Wear Layers

Anytime you visit the Smoky Mountains in the winter, you should pack to wear layers of clothing. This means, pack t-shirts, long sleeved shirts and at least one jacket. This way, whether you’re hiking or just spending time wandering around shops along the Parkway, you’ll be glad to have layers of clothes so you can be warm. If you spend some time at an indoor attraction, it’s easy to take off a jacket to stay cooled down.

It’s best if you plan a few outfits that can be mixed and matched, so you don’t overpack for your trip.

Bring Snacks for the Cabin

There’s plenty of great things to do in your cabin in the Smoky Mountains, but you don’t want to miss out on enjoying the great outdoors, either. So, pack some things you may need to roast some marshmallows and make s’mores. Also pack a few items for snacking on when you’re just spending time in the cabin.

Plan for a Movie and Game Night

There’s a few things you will need to set up the perfect movie night or game night in your cabin in the Smoky Mountains. When the weather is snowy and cold, it’s nice to set up a movie and pop some popcorn before you curl under a blanket and relax.

Bring Clothes for Playing in the Snow

Everyone like playing in the snow, right? Well, when you stay at one of Timber Tops Cabin Rentals in the Smoky Mountains, you will be in the heart of the Smokies. When enough snow has blanketed the ground, you can build a snowman, have a snowball fight or make snow cream.
