When you think of Ober Gatlinburg, you probably imagine skiers and snowboarders jetting down a mountainside covered in powder white snow. But did you know that Ober is also open for the summer? During the off season, Ober Gatlinburg becomes an awesome family fun center featuring some of the best rides and activities in the Smokies. Read on to get the scoop on all of the excellent things to do at Ober Gatlinburg in the summer.
See the sights with the Aerial Tramway.
One of the most convenient (and scenic) ways to get to Ober Gatlinburg is the Aerial Tramway. This cable car takes guests from downtown Gatlinburg up a mountain all the way to the resort. With breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains and the city of Gatlinburg, this ride is well worth the money.
Stay cool at Ober’s ice skating rink.
Although you might associate ice skating with wintertime, it’s also a great way to beat the heat in the summer months. Ober’s ice rink has over 400 pairs of skates for rent, so there’s no need to start digging through your closet to find your long-lost ice skates. Skating at Ober is excellent value: a 3-hour session including skate rental only costs $9 per person!
Even more awesome rides and games.
In addition to the Aerial Tramway and the ice rink, Ober Gatlinburg is home to the following wonderful attractions:
- Alpine Slide
- Scenic Chairlift
- Wildlife Encounter
- Amaze ‘n Maze
- Chair Swing
- Blue Cyclone Rapids water slide
- Kiddie Land & Rides
