Fun family meals can be a challenge in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Just getting everyone to work, practice and bed is hard. When you choose to stay at a cabin in Gatlinburg, you have time to spend in the kitchen as a family. We think cabins are some of the best places to eat in Gatlinburg because you can enjoy the scenery and prepare the foods you like. To help you plan, we at Timber Tops have some fun cabin food ideas to get the kids and your significant other involved in the kitchen during your Smoky Mountain trip this winter.

Breakfast

There are tons of great restaurants and diners in the area, but, for those days you want to stay in your pajamas and eat in, we have all you need. Our cabins are furnished, so you won’t need to bring dishes or cookware, just the food your family loves. Oatmeal is a fun and easy meal because once it is cooked, everyone can put what they want into it, from fruit to brown sugar. For a yummy sweet breakfast, canned cinnamon rolls are easy to pop in the oven.

Lunch

Many of our cabins include outdoor fire pits, the perfect place to roast a hot dog. If you plan to hike in the day, trail mix, sandwiches, fruit and bottled water are an easy fix. Trail mix is especially fun for the kids to make and eat. They can help mix their favorite items and help pack it up.

Supper

Most call it dinner, but, in the Smokies, we affectionately call the evening meal supper. One of our cold weather favorites is chili. Another easy choice is hamburgers. Most of our cabins have a grill, so your family can enjoy the smell while they cook and have an easy meal ready in no time. For those who wouldn’t like meat, grilled veggies or a vegetable lasagna are hearty, filling meals. Other options are kebabs, steaks or roasted potatoes.

Snacks

No vacation can be complete without snacks. Homemade hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows are a yummy way to warm up in front of the fireplace. Roasted marshmallows and s’mores in the fireplace or over the fire pit are also fun ways to end an evening. We would also like to suggest brownies or cookies. Decorating and mixing are the best part, along with licking the spoon. If snow has hit the ground by the time you arrive, homemade snow ice cream is easier than you think. Our snack ideas are endless!

There are also tons of restaurants and dinner shows in the area for those days you don’t feel like cooking. Our variety of restaurants means you have options to take in every cuisine possible. No matter what you plan to munch on during your Smoky Mountain stay, a cabin in Gatlinburg is the perfect place for family time and memorable meals.
