1. They Recently Added a Swimming Hole to the Stage
The Hatfield & McCoy theater was recently renovated to include some wet and wild fun! A new segment of the show features a 22 ft. deep swimming hole that is filled with over 200,000 gallons of saltwater. The pool remains under the stage for the beginning of the show and makes a dramatic entrance as the story progresses. Flanked by a variety of diving boards, the swimming hole is the perfect place for the show’s talented cast members to really make a splash. You can see the hillbilly divers in action in the video below:
2. The Show Now Features Diving Dogs
In addition to the human divers, the Hatfield and McCoy show in Pigeon Forge also features some daredevil dogs! The show’s canine cast members will wow the audience as they jump right into the pool. The theater currently boasts five diving labradors: Jeb, Luke, Willy, Betty Lou, and Riley. According to the show’s general manager, Kimball Keller, the pups absolutely love being in the water!
3. The Theater’s Aquarium is from the TV Show “Tanked”
When you visit the Hatfield & McCoy theater, you will see that the lobby is home to a very impressive fish tank. This unique aquarium was custom designed for the theater by the stars of the show Tanked, which airs on Animal Planet. In the episode titled, “When the Moon(shine) Hits Your Eyes,” the Tanked team visits the Hatfield & McCoy theater to replace the old moonshine still in the lobby with an awesome aquarium.
4. One of Their Cast Members was on “The Voice”
Back in 2016, a former Hatfield & McCoy cast member appeared on the hit TV show The Voice. Kata Hay developed a loyal following for her soulful singing on the NBC series, but she was ultimately cut from the show right before the top 12 contestants were chosen. Hay spent a decade performing in Pigeon Forge including four years singing in the Hatfield & McCoy show. In an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel, Kata called performing at the Hatfield & McCoy theater “the best job I ever had.” You can watch Kata Hay’s electrifying rendition of Reba McEntire’s “Why Haven’t I Heard from You” in the video below:
