Want to learn how to write a hit song? Musicians planning a vacation to Gatlinburg will be thrilled to hear that the Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival is back for another year of great music and education! Whether you’re a fan of pop, rock, country, bluegrass, or gospel, this annual event will make you appreciate music like never before.

Location and Admission

The Songwriters Festival will be held from August 21 to 24 in downtown Gatlinburg with free musical events for the whole family. There will also be a special ticketed event on August 23 at the Creekside Conference Center where legendary songwriters Whispering Bill Anderson, Steve Dorf, and Bobby Tomberlin will perform. What To Expect at the 2014 Smoky Mountains Songwriters Festival

One of the highlights of this year’s festival will be the 2014 Song Competition, where entrants from diverse categories like bluegrass, country, folk, gospel/inspiration, pop/rock and “lyrics-only”, compete for a grand prize of $500 and a special Listener’s Choice of $250.

Another special event will be the 2014 Workshop Series with seven different songwritingevents, such as “Arranging the Hit” with Larry Beaird, and “Developing a Hit Idea into a Hit Song”, presented by songwriter Marty Dodson. Payment for any combination of workshop ranges from $65 for a single event to $349 for all seven, which can be paid online. Interested applicants are encouraged to reply to a contact form or send an e-mail to [email protected] with a listing of workshops of interest.
