Where

All of the Tunes and Tales performances are held in downtown Gatlinburg. The performers should be easy to spot because many of them come dressed in period costumes from the 1800s!

When

Tunes and Tales starts up again for its ninth season in April. During the spring, you will be able to enjoy performances on Friday and Saturday nights. Starting June 6th, the Tunes and Tales entertainers will play music and share stories every day of the week!

Shows begin at 6 p.m. and usually last until around 11 p.m.

Cost

All of the entertainment is completely free!

What to Expect

Tunes and Tales is a celebration of Appalachian culture and traditions. Local musicians will break out their banjos and guitars for some authentic Smoky Mountain folk songs and toe tapping bluegrass music.

Where there’s music, there’s also bound to be dancing! The Back Porch Cloggers will be showing off their moves and teaching members of the crowd how to step.

Keep an eye out for Smoky Mountain storytellers! In years past, we have had an old timey police officer who tells tales to kids and gives out badges to his new deputies.

Are you curious about woodworking? A handful of skilled artisans will be on hand to demonstrate their craft and answer questions about their technique. You might even learn how to whittle!

The Gatlinburg mascot Zeno the Bear is also certain to make an appearance. This lovable guy is known to greet visitors with a great big bear hug!
